Starting as the process of self-identification of the orthodox in relation to, and excommunication of, the Christian heretics of late antiquity. Then through the inquisitions of the middles ages and up until to the Enlightenment and ‘terror’ of the French revolution. Re-merging politically through totalitarian tendencies of both left and right movements of the 20th century, in the form of the mind-controlling-tyranny, re-evoking the role of the Inquisitor.
It illustrates how this becomes a pattern of dogma and creeds form into movements of exclusion and inclusion, the precursors of the belief that ‘silence is violence’, ‘passivity is complicity’, as the moral tribes divide to claim their self-righteous cause that therefore the ‘personal is political’. Thus, the demand for freedom of conscience and the spiritual integrity of one’s inner life, is considered a species thought crime. One must therefore reach into the mind of everyman to verify his conscience is correctly aligned. For "Our" side is always right; "their" side is of the devil, so fundamentally wrong that one can only detest them. At least that is what America looks like right now, and Critical Theory is is using the 'master's tools to conjure the new inquisition.

There are essentially two paths that humans can follow; The Godly or....to become part of the animal kingdom. The battle in the USA is between those who still have a faint (or perhaps not so faint) memory of a transcendent, Godly vision of mankind's existence and those who are feeling the exhilaration of raw animal behavior. Vice President Mike Pence is savaged because he won't have dinner alone with a woman or will not drink alcohol at a gathering if his wife is not with him. In other words a man who recognizes the nearly irresistible rip tide that is the male sexual drive and creates barriers for himself to make sure he does not end up in a compromising position is considered a misogynist. Yet the other Vice Presidential candidate, a woman who shamelessly used and manipulated the male sex drive to advance her political career - but of course no one is allowed to talk about it, (another new children's tale: The Emperors New Slut), is considered an "empowered, successful woman of color". In other words, controlling impulses is bad, acting like an animal is good. There is a tremendous pleasure and sense of power and independence when one chooses to live as an animal. However, because ultimately "the soul is never filled" , the animal behavior must become more and more extreme if the high is to be maintained; it is the most dangerous and destructive of all addictions.
