Something else I will note is as the Cosmopolitan Globalists have previously reported NATO and US troops have long been kept away from the Eastern part of the Ukraine to prevent any "misunderstandings" I wonder if doing so has given Russia the impression that the US and NATO don't really in there heart of hearts recognize Ukrainian sovereignty over the Eastern part of Ukraine.
Except that France as Claire's friends Bruno Tertrais and Francois Heisbourg have pointed out is not a signatory to the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances so in some sense Paris owes Kiev nothing. In fact Bruno T on Twitter seems to think that Taiwan is far more important to France than Ukraine. Not saying I agree with that but Bruno is about as pro American and Atlanticist as you get in French foreign policy circles.

Just to add one small fillip to this: the Minsk Accords are themselves a betrayal of the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances.
