Jake Sullivan already knows it all, and I have it from Peter Zeihan that he’s absolutely brilliant. He doesn’t even take the Metro to work. He just walks across the Potomac. I don’t think he’d read the CosmoGlobo even if I gifted him a subscription, because he’s omniscient.
The CosmoGlob is like personal counselling: if you don't want it, and seek it out, it's not going to do you any good. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it wake up and smell the coffee.
I'm not sure how hard "really hard" is, but I can tell you I try pretty hard to get folks to read CosmoGlob. I'm often met with "Pay for news?! That's nonsense!" Now don't get rumbly, I know this site isn't really news. It's long form journalism, and political analysis. It requires being willing to spend a little time, do a little thinking, and be a bit challenged.
Most people simply aren't up for any of that. They want two to three paragraphs of "confirm my bias for me, please" and they want it for free.
Or they think that "paying for news" means paying Big Corporation to spoon feed us whatever is in Big Corporation's best interest. They don't really realize that if they aren't paying for it, it's funded by someone else who is driving that.
But it's all worth it because you guys are so great. When I woke up this morning and looked at my "new subscriber" stats, I thought Substack was having a glitch.
You guys are amazing. Thank you, every one of you.

How many referrals gets me a desagilation?
I'm not sure, but suggest you try really hard and we'll see if it works.

It's a tough business you are in Claire!
