I wish the people that need to hear this would hear it. But the populist masses largely seem to not have exposure to such reporting. And my experience is that even when they do, they blow it off.
No surprise the activity is focused on X. Elon pulled the “Twitter Files”, another influence op in very similar fashion to Kremlin directed ones, to justify allowing unfettered and obvious disinformation to exist on the platform. Amazing to me this doesn’t make bigger news. Here is the world’s richest man doing the bidding of the enemies of the USA. And crickets.
Funny you should say this because I just exchanged these messages on Twitter with Dave Troy:
@davetroy
Here's the underlying report (PDF) from @TheStudyofWar with the content I've shared from them in several recent posts. Excellent, concise, clear, and well worth your time.
@ClaireBerlinski I'm glad to see people are sharing this. But it's being shared by people who already grasp this. Somehow we need to get the people who are blinded by these techniques to read it. How?
@davetroy Based on my experience, there is always room to educate people on the tactics, techniques, and procedures. Just because I understand it doesn't mean all of my audience does; many just see "partisan" conflict, and the reality goes well beyond it. This is a concise explainer.
@ClaireBerlinski It's a brilliant explainer. But I fear we're talking to each other, not the people who need to understand it. How do we get Mike Johnson to grasp this?
@davetroy I don't think Mike Johnson has any interest in understanding this, and there is no way to reach him due to social division. Let's build a time machine and fix our social fabric about 50 years ago. More here:
@davetroy Even as we may be talking to each other, if we can shift more people from thinking about this in terms of simple partisan conflict (which benefits the Kremlin) to one of perception warping (which actually counters the Kremlin), that's a good thing; take that win.
....
I understand your despair. I can't "take that win," because the only victory that matters is pushing Russia back into the fetid hole it crawled out of.
Likewise, I just said exactly the same thing about Musk. That he's being given *ever more* responsibility for our national security even though we *know* he's a massive security risk is just inexplicable. A sign of the deep brokenness of our politics, obviously.
"Amateur hour" - be fair, at least it's only Amateur 20 minutes?
This just in... Amazing production! https://twitter.com/MrMichaelSpicer/status/1773778790604267813/mediaViewer?currentTweet=1773778790604267813
