The riots (again) in France

Plus: A short selection of stories that caught my eye.

Yesterday’s protests in France degenerated, again, into appalling violence, with nearly a thousand fires lit on the streets of Paris, 441 cops injured, God knows how many protesters injured, and at least 457 arrested. The Black blocs infiltrated the demonstrations and did what they do—they smashed windows and set fire to the huge mounds of uncollected trash. (They’re uncollected because the garbagemen are on strike).
