From Claire—From the email you’ve sent me since we published my father’s book reviews, it seems some of you fear my father is a forbidding figure.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Since it’s Sunday, I thought I’d show you.

My father wrote these poems to amuse us when we were kids. I’ve illustrated one for you:

Would you like to read more? I’ve put a few behind the paywall. They aren’t illustrated yet, but they’re charming, wholly innocent, safe for work, and suitable any family occasion, including—especially including—long road trips punctuated repeatedly by the question, “Are we there yet?”
