Hostages in Hamas's subterranean hell are injured, starving, raped, and tortured. Some are US citizens. Why have Americans been so muted in their response?
I was just listening to Vivian Bercovici’s Sunday podcast, which is excellent. She and her guest, Ya’akov Katz, discussed the hostages who remain trapped in Hamas’s tunnels. They ask what price Israelis are prepared to pay to secure their release.
In Israel, it isn’t just the families of the hostages who are in agony. The whole country is seized with anguish. People describe themselves as “living in suspended animation.” They say, “time has stopped still” since October 7. The hostages have been on the front page of every Israeli newspaper every day since October 7.
